I’ve been lucky to have lived in several beautiful places. Oahu is one of them. During my college days, I spent a year in Oahu. Those days were salad days, long on time and short on money, and to this day, one of the best times in my memory. Days often ended with a swim at Queen’s Beach at always welcoming Kapiolani Park, a scooter ride through Chinatown to fetch asian veggies, or to Kahala Mall to excape the heat with a matinee movie, and weekends piling into a friend of a friend’s big old American car to head to the Kam Drive-In in Aiea for the outdoor drive-in movies, or long late nights playing poker for small change and intelligent conversation in quiet Manoa Valley.
What’s was not to love! Oahu is still a place that I love, and visit often. Here are some of my favorite things, taken with my phone camera, and a little help from Hisptamatic. Every picture has a story.
I’m planning my next visit, and I can’t wait to dip my toes in the water!
