It’s Kidding Season in Maui!
I don’t really need much excuse to visit a goat dairy farm, especially when there are baby goats. But Surfing Goat Dairy Farm has such a great reputation for local fresh and sustainable food in Maui, this visit was about the cheese.
This is great trip up-country. Highly recommend if you’ve got your own kids, and are a bit tired of the beach.
Surfing Goat Dairy Farm is located on the beautiful slopes of Maui’s Haleakala Crater in lower Kula about an hours drive from Lahaina. They produce award winning “Maui Gourmet Goat Cheeses” (18 awards so far) which they supply to fine local restaurants (like Kō Restaurant) and specialty grocers. They offer farm tours and cheese tasting flights (we paid $10 per person in March 2013). Being able to sample their entire repertoire of products makes the dramatic drive out to the farm worth it! And the goats are so cute!!
Only 3 more days in Maui, but I had to take away the aged Feta with rosemary in olive oil, and the Fresh Chevre Garden Fantasia with parsley and fresh herbs.
