Nicli Antica Pizzeria – This is How We Do Pizza Night in Gastown
I am eating my way through the current Vancouver Foodster Pizza Challenge from June 20 – July 14, 2013. It’s a tough assignment, but with many years of University education behind me, I’ve got some mad skills! Thank you Richard Wolak for organizing some of the most amazing food events all over Vancouver!
First out of the gate: Nicli Antica Pizzeria
In addition to their other remarkable menu offerings, Nicli Antica Pizzeria has created a special pizza for this challenge.
Behold the Nicli Antica Pizzeria Vancouver Pizza Challenge Entry: The Bianca con fichi, prosciutto serrano e gorgonzola
A fabulously satisfying Neapolitan style pizza, which means that lovely thin-ish crust of fresh bread cooked in a very high heat brick oven. The ingredients are fresh and sweet figs, sharp and creamy gorgonzola, crunchy slightly bitter greens, and the concentrated serrano ham – wow! It works! Drizzle a little bit of the flavoured olive oils and before I knew it, my pizza had vanished.
Description: White pizza with fresh figs, grana padano, mozzarella di bufala, and gorgonzola. Finished with serrano ham, arugula, EVOO, and balsamic reduction.
