ANA Launches Daily Service Vancouver YVR – Tokyo Haneda HND Begins March 30, 2014

All Nippon Airways will be launching daily 767 Tokyo Haneda to Vancouver flight as of March 30, 2014. As part of their expansion at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, ANA will be launching daily 767-300ER service between Tokyo Haneda and Vancouver as of March 30, 2014. Daily flight will operate on this  schedule:
HND Haneda Tokyo to YVR Vancouver departing 9:55 pm arriving 2:55 pm
YVR Vancouver to HND Haneda Tokyo departing 4:55 pm arriving 7:05pm (+1 day)
All Nippon Airways tickets from Haneda to Vancouver flight goes on sale on December 19, 2013.

BTW, Air Canada announced in Dec 2013 that it too would be offering daily flights between Toronto-Pearson and Tokyo-Haneda beginning July 2014, using  the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, but not via Vancouver, yet. Too bad!

Icelandair Launches YVR-Reykjavik Non-Stop

Starting on May  13, 2014, Icelandair  will offer non-stop service two times a week to Reykjavik’s Keflavik International Airport and connect to flights to Icelandair’s European network which includes popular Scandinavian destinations like Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.   @Icelandair Vancouver twice weekly flights start May 13, 2014 and continue until October 12, 2014.

Delta to launch Seattle to Vancouver service

Starting June 5, 2014, Delta will start a 5 times a day service between Seattle, Washington SEA and Vancouver, BC VYR. Delta will offer customers five daily flights between Vancouver and Seattle, operated by Delta Connection carrier SkyWest Airlines using 76-seat, two-class CRJ-900s.  Currently, Delta operate the Seattle-Vancouver route as a codeshare with Horizon Airlines, who operate the route for Alaska Airlines.

Westjet YVR-Dublin, Ireland

WestJet Airlines Ltd announces first solo flights to Europe. The new routes, subject to government approval, will use 737-700 aircraft and connect through Toronto and St. John’s, offering connections to Dublin. In November 2013, WestJet announced service to Dublin, Ireland, as the airline’s first transatlantic destination with seasonal daily service from June 15, 2014, to October 5, 2014, with non-stop flights to Dublin from St. John’s, Newfoundland, direct (same-aircraft) flights from Toronto and connections from across WestJet’s network. New service will include daily connections between Dublin and Halifax, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and other cities across WestJet’s network.

Virgin Atlantic Seasonal Service YVR-LHR increased, adding a fifth weekly flight.

Virgin Atlantic currently run a seasonal service four times a week from London Heathrow to Vancouver and have prompted this change because of its popularity. To meet this demand they will introduce a fifth weekly service next summer, 2014. The flights will operate on Sundays from May to August as well as on a Wednesday from July to September.

New deep discount carrier Jetlines prepares for launch in Vancouver

Deep discount modelled, Jetlines has applied for an airline license to operate large aircraft in Canada and hopes to offer service as early as next fall.
