Seattle Coffee – Old and Retro

Seattle is a Coffee Traveler’s Destination

Seattle knows coffee, home of Starbucks, its also on the Coffee cutting edge.

Starbucks

Reminiscing on Seattle’s coffee history, lets take a vitis to the first Starbucks. The first Starbucks opened in 1971 in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. The narrow shop is still there at 1912 Pike Market Place, more of a heritage or even pilgrimage site than a place to bring you laptop and work with a coffee.

Victrola Roastery and Cafe

Victrola Cafe is not new, at almost 14 years in business, but it is a new style of coffee house.

In 2007, Victrola opened its showcase cafe at 310 E. Pike Street, located in an old 1920’s auto row building just off downtown on the base of Capitol Hill, complete with a roastery, training facility and cupping room. A good walk uphill from Seattle’s Pike Place Market, it is a beautiful cafe and a place to learn about coffee at a tasting, watch the roasting process, or get some quiet work done in a cafe. The coffee was exceptional, in that subtle and amazing just roasted flavour.
