Vancouver PRIDE Parade 2014 August 3rd noon-3pm
The Vancouver Pride Parade was granted civic status last year in 2013 as it is now considered one of the Vancouver’s flagship events!
Attracting crowds of more than 650,000, the Pride Parade is renowned on the international stage as on of the largest and most successful events in the world, in support of LGBTQ communities, with spectators and participants outnumbering the host City’s residents.
Our esteemed panel of judges (judges of parade entries) will observe from the judging zones at: Safeway, Denman Place Mall and the Boathouse and award points based on the appearance, impact, and music of each entry. The general public can vote too, stay-tuned for a link to the webpage.
Grand Marshalls nominations are now open please visit our news section to nominate a Grand Marshall. These remarkable individuals represent an inter-generational and international perspective on PRIDE, celebrating the people who have shaped its spirit with their passion for equality.
Join us for one of the most beautiful and diverse parade routes in the world!
*Route: The parade begins at Robson Street and Thurlow Street, heads west to Denman Street, follows Denman to Pacific Street and Beach Avenue and finishes at the Sunset Beach Festival site.
Exhibitor Information : 2014 Pride Parade, Robson/Denman/Beach Ave – August 3rd
The Parade is the flagship event that attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators to watch and engage in the celebration of LGBTTQ struggles and successes. Categories range from marching units to decorated vehicles, bicycles, and floats. Be sure to check the rate card for the current category fees and complete all sections of the application form. As with other Pride events, entries are considered for their values and fit, not on a first-come-first-served basis.
PRIDE Block Party- August 1st @ Davie Street 6pm-12
Start your pride weekend off on the right foot at the Davie St BLOCK Party, and play games or dance with Pride to the hottest DJs of the summer! This is now an all ages community focused event for Vancouver’s LGBTQ community, families, and allies. Come at 4 pm to participate in carnival games in our 2 community blocks (Thurlow-Jervis), listen to music, and participate in games by donation hosted by community groups and local non-profits. Held in partnership with the West End BIA.
The beer garden is 19+ and opens up at 6 pm, be sure to bring your ID, the beer garden is ticketed be sure to purchase your tickets in advance from the Vancouver Pride Society Website.
Terry Wallace Memorial Breakfast- August 2nd @ Davie Street Plaza (the rainbow crosswalks) 9am
A community breakfast in recognition of the pioneers of the PRIDE movement in Vancouver. Come join in for an outdoor breakfast by donation (proceeds go to the Vancouver PRIDE Society), listen to stories of the past, and browse through the Vancouver PRIDE Society’s Archives.
